This is a requirement to pass the course - you must have a web
site out on the Internet.
Your project is to generate a
professional web site that could be used by a real company. Your
site should be what I would consider “G rated”. My very
strong preference is that you contact a friend or talk to a company
where you work and get information about what the company would like
- if this isn't possible then you will have to be the contact person
at your fictitious company and wear two hats.
You need to
decide on a look/feel for your web site and a goal or goals that you
want to accomplish. Part of the project is to pass in a paper
articulating this information. You should think through the
navigation of the site and use techniques that you will make your
site easy to work with. In addition, you must map your site - this
should be passed in along with the project. This use of the term map
means to provide a flow of the pages in your site. There are examples
of this at the site! There must be multiple pages or files associated
with the site. Clearly you should be creating a masterpiece! However,
given the time constraints you may have to settle for a little less!
You have been given an area on cisweb to install this project. The brinkster site I mentioned
has changed. You should use cisweb.
You should do this site using HTML5 and you should be setting up multiple pages. If three-quarters of your pages validate then you qualify for an A. If three-quarters of your pages do not validate, the highest grade you can get is a B. You need to send me a list of pages and how they validated or did not validate.
The site should be written using just HTML5 and CSS. Your style should be exclusively done with CSS. You cannot include pages that were created using any application package.
You should send me the address of the site and you should also
send me the HTML pages that you loaded at the site. Sometimes code is
added when you are using the free sites (this is not a problem if you
use the BCC site)! I want to see you original code.

Your grade will have two
parts:
the first will be for creating a web site that conveys the look/feel and the goals you are trying to achieve and is easy to understand and navigate - your map will be included in this grade (a map of the site should be included as a page at the site – explore how professional websites map their sites)
the second will be for technical execution and sophistication - a site that successfully uses some of the more sophisticated things we have discussed will receive a better grade than one that uses only the basics – if you successfully use things you have referenced and we have not covered that is an added boost to your grade
